Date Sold 6/7/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 6" x 9 1/2" [15 x 24 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) The Story of Vernon and Irene Castle, the 1939 H.C. Potter biographical vaudeville dancing romantic musical comedy ("Dramatic! Thrilling! Beautiful!"; "The Texas Tommy"; "The Maxixe"; "The Castle Walk"; "The Tango"; "At last Fred and Ginger in a great Dramatic Love Story!"; "Adaptation by Oscar Hammerstein II & Dorothy Yost") starring Fred Astaire (in the title role as Vernon Castle), Ginger Rogers (in the title role as Irene Castle), Edna May Oliver, Walter Brennan, Lew Fields, Etienne Girardot, and Janet Beecher. Note that this was the last of the nine wonderful movies that Astaire and Rogers made between 1933 and 1939 (they made one final movie, "The Barkleys of Broadway", ten years later in 1949). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this herald, and that was 7 years ago! This is one of a collection of 15 rare heralds from the late 1930s and early 1940s (in 15 separate auctions). Many of them are ones we have either never auctioned before or only auctioned once or twice. The heralds were all printed in the U.S., but were mostly used in theaters in Egypt, so most have overprinting on the back for an Egyptian movie theater. Also, almost all of the heralds have tiny circular holes scattered in the image (sometimes very few, sometimes more). We strongly suggest you look closely at our images of the fronts and backs of these rare heralds before bidding on them, so you can see the location of the tiny circular holes or larger paper loss. We previously auctioned 42 heralds from this same collection, and while there are more left from this collection, all the best titles will have been auctioned after this set of auctions is completed! Condition: good. There are around ten tiny circular holes scattered in the herald. See above for more about the condition of this herald and please look at our super-sized images of both sides before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
