An Original Vintage Paperbacked Magazine Cover (measures 11" x 13 3/4") (Learn More) Collier's ("The National Weekly"; "More than a million a week"), the magazine which was founded by Peter Collier in 1887. It was known for its investigative journalism (critics called it "muckraking"), and it remained successful all the way until 1957. In its early days it was known as Collier's Weekly, and early covers had art by name artists who signed their work. Artist: George De Zayas Important Added Info: Note that this paperbacked magazine cover is from a collection that was consigned to us by a man who collected the covers of these magazines only (of course choosing the ones with the absolute best art!), and he had all of them professionally paperbacked, which not only presents them far better, but which makes them extremely easy to frame and enjoy (not only are these works of art by famous artists of the early to middle 20th century, but they also are very nostalgic, showing America when it was growing from a minor country to the leading world power, and any of them look great framed on a wall!). What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the cover had tears and tiny paper loss across the top and minor wear around the other edges. Overall, the cover was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The restorer backed the cover "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
