An Original Vintage Theatrical Kraftbacked Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 41" x 81" [104 x 206 cm]) (Learn More) Jerry on the Farm, the 1917 Milton J. Fahrney silent romantic love triangle comedy "movie within a movie" ("The Cub Comedy"; about an actor who is filming on a farm location and he falls for the farmer's daughter, but a farm hand falls for her too and brawls with the actor; bestest by the farm hand the actor agrees that the other can elope with the daughter but the actor tries to win her back only to be shot at by the farm hand, and as things progress the camera pans back and we find out these are only scenes being shot for a movie!) starring George Ovey (in the title role as Jerry), George George, Gordon McGregor, and Claire Alexander. Note that this was one of a massive number of comedy shorts called "Cub Comedies" which all had "Jerry" in the title and were made by Mutual in the mid to late 1910s. George Ovey played "Merry Jerry" in all these and he was in his mid-40s, having been a vaudeville star before that. The movies were extremely popular at the time but are completely forgotten today, which is a shame! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that movie paper from this film is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we were consigned this three-sheet poster! Not only that, but posters from ANY of the George Ovey Jerry comedies are incredibly rare (we have only auctioned two other poster from any of the Jerry movies)! Note also that this three-sheet was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. Also note that this poster has been kraftbacked, which means it was backed onto a brown paper soon after it was printed (this process is called "kraft-backing", and posters with it are called "kraft-backed"). One could have it professionally removed from the kraft paper and linenbacked, and it would look great! Condition: good. The poster has been kraftbacked (see above). It had its top corners folded back and grommets inserted. It also has pinholes and paper loss in the corners and some other defects scattered through the image (see our image). One can have it professionally removed from the kraftbacking and restored, but bear all of this in mind before bidding on this extremely rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
