An Original Vintage Souvenir Program Book (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) Third Annual 'Out of This World' Series, the 1949 program book ("Sponsored by Hollywood Junior Chamber of Commerce") promoting the benefit baseball game held on August 1st, 1949 at Gilmore Ball Park in Los Angeles, California. There were two teams made up entirely of celebrities, one called "Sinatra Swooners" and one called "Russell Sprouts" (led by Frank Sinatra and Andy Russell), and each team had beautiful actresses as bat girls, including Ava Gardner, Jane Russell, and Elizabeth Taylor. There was an "After Game Show" with entertainment by Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis, among others. William Boyd (Hopalong Cassidy) and Tommy Dorsey were the umpires, and Groucho Marx was the play-by-play announcer, and the program has images of most of the above celebrities NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
