An Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 6 1/2" x 9 1/2" [17 x 24 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) Brief Encounter, the classic 1945 (released in the U.S. and Canada in 1946) David Lean (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English romantic infidelity melodrama ("A story of the most precious moments in a woman's life!"; "Living a love that was not theirs"; "Thrill to Rachmaninoff Concerto No 2 as played by Eileen Joyce"; based on the play by Noel Coward; about two people who are married to others who accidentally meet each other and are irresistibly drawn to each other, but are decent people who want to avoid having an affair; many people, myself included, consider this one of the handful of the finest movies ever made!) starring Celia Johnson (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "Whose performance was voted the best of the year 1946 by the New York Critics"), Trevor Howard, Stanley Holloway, Joyce Carey, Cyril Raymond, and Valentine Dyall NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this pressbook, which is a "country of origin" item for this classic English movie, is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned it before. We once auctioned a U.S. pressbook for this movie, but that only had 8 pages with no color. This English pressbook has a color cover and is printed on a quality paper stock. It has an interior poster page which shows the British quad, the English half-sheet, and the door panel, all of which are unbelievably rare! It also shows many newspaper ads and has stories and images from the movie! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good to fine, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It has very minor wear but is overall in really nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
