An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Hungarian Movie Poster (measures 37 1/2" x 49 1/2" [95 x 126 cm]) (Learn More)

Ossis Tagebuch (released in English-speaking countries as "Ossi's Diary"), the 1917 Ernst Lubitsch German silent romantic school teacher comedy (about a teenage tomboy who loves to play tricks on people, and her favorite target is the teacher who lives across the street, and her parents send her to a private school for girls and, by an amazing coincidence, the teacher gets a job there, and the girls try to torment him, and the teacher becomes very strict, but then he finds Ossi's diary, and discovers she had a crush on him, and they end up getting married!) starring Ossi Oswalda (in the title role), Hermann Thimig, Emilie Kurz, Ernst Lubitsch, and Fritz Schulz. Note that this was one of the early movies made by Ernst Lubitsch when he was a director in Germany, and at this time, he was also an actor, and he appears in this movie as an actor as well! Posters from any of Lubitsch's early movies are incredibly rare!

Artist: Laszlo Farkas
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this poster! Also note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II Hungarian poster! Virtually no Hungarian posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in Hungary during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters!

Condition: good to very good. The poster has darkened somewhat and it has some separation and tiny paper loss in some portions of the upper crossfolds. It has some ink transfer staining throughout (from being folded too soon after it was printed - see our image). It is otherwise in pretty nice condition (especially considering that it is from pre-World War II AND is over 100 years old!).
