An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Local Theater Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 17" x 26" [43 x 66 cm]) (Learn More)

Harold Bell Wright's The Shepherd of the Hills, the 1941 Henry Hathaway Ozarks cowboy western ("Based on the Novel by Harold Bell Wright"; "America's most beloved drama of the human heart! In glorious Technicolor"; about a mysterious stranger who arrives in the Ozarks and gets involved with a beautiful young mountain girl who has a moonshiner fiance, who has vowed to kill his own father) starring John Wayne, Betty Field, Harry Carey Sr., Beulah Bondi, James Barton, Samuel S. Hinds, Marjorie Main, and Marc Lawrence. Note that this movie had been made in 1919 and again in 1928, but this John Wayne version is the best remembered one!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that it is very interesting to note that when this movie played in 1941, the specific theater that created this window card did not think that mentioning John Wayne would be a big draw, and instead focused on the connection to Harold Bell Wright's book! Also note that this window card was surely made by a local theater, and not by the studio (it is either partially or completely hand painted!), both for the reason given above, and because there is no studio information on the card.

Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. If it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube (like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it.

Condition: good to very good. There are some scuffs scattered throughout the card, and it was once lightly partially folded down the center.
