What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had light water staining, in a small part of the title and in the white background beneath it. It had an extra vertical fold 1" to the right of the regular one, with small tears and tiny paper loss scattered in that area down the center, but it is most noticeable in the white background at bottom center, where there is also the water staining described above. There are pinholes in the corners and some faint stains around the edges. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. In spite of the many defects noted above, the poster can still be displayed and enjoyed, or one could certainly choose to have this rare poster removed from the old linen and have it re-backed, and after proper restoration, it will display wonderfully!
