An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 19 3/4" x 29 3/4" [50 x 76 cm]) (Learn More) The World Cry: Food, the 1918 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front poster ("The Spirit of '18"; "Keep the Home Garden going"; "United States Food Administration") encouraging people to grow their own food to contribute to the war effort, and featuring William McKee art of farmers with their crops. Note that the art and tagline allude to the famous "Spirit of '76" painting by Archibald MacNeal Willard. Artist: William McKee Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded and someone mounted it onto a very thin linen, with no excess. Either before or after it was backed, it acquired creases and some tiny tears around the edges, but is otherwise in pretty good condition, especially considering its age.
