a lot of 4 pressbooks from Jeanette MacDonald movies. Jeanette MacDonald was an actress/singer from the 1920s to the 1940s. She was born in 1903, and she works in choruses on Broadway in the 1920s. In 1929, Ernst Lubitsch picked her to play opposite Maurice Chevalier in "The Love Parade" for Paramount, and she also made the classic "Love Me Tonight", opposite Maurice Chevalier and directed by Rouben Mamoulian. In 1931, she left Paramount and signed with MGM, and in 1935, she starred in "Naughty Marietta" with Nelson Eddy, who whom she appeared in several other opera-like musicals of the 1930s. She had a big hit with "San Francisco", opposite Clark Gable, in 1936. In 1938, she quit the movies to perform in shows and on stage. From 1937 to her passing, she was married to actor Gene Raymond. She returned in the late 1940s to make two more movies, but she suffered from a bad heart, and passed away in 1965 at the age of 61. Note that the items in this lot are mostly from the 1940s. We do not provide a list of these items, but there are images of all of them.

Note that we were consigned a number of pressbook bulk lots just before preparing this set of auctions. We just don't have the time to check these pressbooks for cuts. Based on the last group of pressbooks we received from this consignor, there is a very good chance that no more than a handful of these pressbooks would have any cuts, and possibly no more than one or two. HOWEVER, DO NOT BID ON THIS BULK LOT UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THAT SOME OF THEM MAY HAVE CUTS!
Measurements: 11" x 15"

Condition: fair to good, NO CUTS. Note that these were made by MGM during World War II on newsprint, and all are fragile with some tears, darkening, and paper loss around the edges. All the MGM pressbooks from this period are like this, so this is the only way they can be acquired, but bear their significant condition defects in mind before bidding on this lot.

Some of the pressbooks were folded and some have separation on the spine and wear around the edges.
