An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Three-Sheet Movie Poster (3sh; measures 40 1/2" x 79" [103 x 201 cm]) (Learn More)

Pretty Soft, the 1919 Harry Edwards silent romantic comedy short ("All the funny situations of H.A. MacGill's famous newspaper creations brought to life by Flanigan and Edwards") starring Edward Flanagan, and Neely Edwards. Note that this was one of a series of two-reel silent comedies based on H. A. MacGill's 1904 newspaper comic The Hall Room Boys, which followed the humorous adventures of Percy and Ferdie. Within a year of it's debut in the papers in 1904, the characters of Percy and Ferdie began turning up in vaudeville sketches and, a few years later, a first film version based on the strip was produced. In 1919, Bill Parsons obtained the film rights to the comic and made the first 10 or so Hall Room Boys comedies. When Parsons died, Jack and Harry Cohn took over the series, which would last until 1923, and there were many movies in the series, but with different actors playing the lead roles in almost all of the movies. Yes, that is the Jack & Harry Cohn who would found Columbia Pictures, and while these movies are not officially considered Columbia movies, they likely deserve to be! You can find much more about these movies at this page: http://columbiashortsdept.weebly.com/the-hall-room-boys.html

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this three-sheet measures 40 1/2" x 79" [103 x 201 cm], but it has not been trimmed. Also note that this three-sheet was printed in 3 sections designed to overlap.

Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. Some of these items can ONLY be sent in flat packages, and could not possibly be rolled into a tube. On some of them (for example if it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube, like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it.

Condition: poor. As can be clearly seen in our super-sized image, the poster is in much lesser condition. It has been glued to a thick cardboard and has many defects including complete fold separation, paper loss, discoloration, and many other defects that can be clearly seen in our super-sized image. The poster is in urgent need of restoration but please bear in mind the cost of restoration, the fact that it is glued to cardboard and its many defects before placing a bid.
