An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Smashing the Vice Trust, the 1937 Melville Shyer exploitation melodrama (apparently, a pseudo-documentary expose of the vice business, although it is likely the viewers of this movie had less than noble interests in watching it!) starring Willy Castello, Veola Vonn, Augusta Anderson, John Belmont, and Selmer Jackson. Note that this movie was re-edited by director Shyer into "Confessions of a Vice Baron" in 1943. Melville Shyer spent many years in Hollywood working as an assistant director for 143 mostly low-budget movies between 1930 and 1962, and in the 1930s and 1940s, he directed seven low-budget exploitation movies like this one. His son, Charles Shyer, has had major success as a Hollywood director, directing such movies as The Parent Trap, Father of the Bride, and Baby Boom! If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster had paper loss at the crossfolds and in parts of the borders, and in small parts of the foldlines. It had many creases and tears on foldlines and a few that were not in the folds. Overall, the poster was in fair to good condition prior to linenbacking. Someone backed the poster well onto linen, but performed no restoration. Learn More about condition grades
