Auction History Result 6j0456 BLACK FRIDAY LC #2 R1947 mad scientist Boris Karloff examines unconscious man in hospital bed! Date Sold 5/7/2024![]() Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1947 Realart Re-Release Theatrical Movie Lobby Card #2 (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Black Friday, the 1940 Arthur Lubin Universal mad scientist crime murder horror thriller (a wild story of a mad scientist, played by Boris Karloff, whose friend is badly injured in a car crash by a gangster who is fatally wounded, and the scientist is able to save his friend by transplanting part of the brain of the dead gangster into his friend's brain!; unfortunately, his friend then takes on both his own personality and that of the dead gangster, and he becomes a "Jekyll & Hyde", and when he is the gangster, he is seeking revenge against his gang members, including Bela Lugosi in a surprisingly minor role!) starring Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Stanley Ridges, Anne Nagel, Anne Gwynne, and James Craig. Note that Universal incredibly deceptively advertised this movie! The movie was pre-sold as a Karloff/Lugosi film even though Lugosi only has a small part. They gave Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi equal top billing, and the one-sheet has large head shots of both stars, and poor Stanley Ridges, who was actually the star of the movie, is not even pictured on the poster, although they found room for an image of Anne Nagel! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Also note that someone wanted to "restore" this card, and they wanted to do the equivalent of paperbacking it, but they chose a novel way to save money. They put Priority Mail shipping labels over the entire back of the card to give it more stability, and then they performed restoration to the borders (see below for how the card looks now). Please do not bid on this card unless you can accept this unique "restoration". Condition: good. The card had pinholes, smudges, stains, and some tiny paper loss around the edges. Someone performed restoration to the border defects after performing the "backing" with Priority Mail labels (see above), and the card displays pretty well, but you can clearly see the border restoration that was done.
