An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Disraeli, the 1921 Henry Kolker silent biographical melodrama (this was a biography of the famous English Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli, who was the only English Prime Minister of Jewish birth, although he converted at age 12, and the movie revolves around his efforts to make sure England owned the Suez Canal; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring George Arliss (in the title role as Benjamin Disraeli), Florence Arliss, Margaret Dale, and Louise Huff. Note that this movie was remade in 1929, also starring George Arliss! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of 17 linenbacked posters we were consigned that were damaged by water. All of the posters (which we are auctioning in 17 separate auctions) became wet after they were backed, and the owner did not discover it immediately, and they dried out, causing creases and cracking scattered throughout, and they surely have mildew and possibly mold. They ABSOLUTELY need to be removed from the old linen and properly re-backed (during the process, the restorer can kill any living mold or mildew), and afterwards, the poster can again be displayed, but this is a fairly expensive process, so please DO NOT bid on this poster unless you can accept its extremely significant defects and the cost of restoring it.
