An Original 1969 (from the first release of this movie in Italy) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (lrg pbusta; measures 26 3/4" x 37 1/2" [68 x 95 cm]) (Learn More) Sekkusu Chekku: Daini no Sei (released in English-speaking countries as "The Sex Check" and in Italy as "Bisexual"), the 1968 Yasuzo Masumura Japanese female Olympic athlete track running melodrama (based on the novel 'Sprinter' by Daikichi Oouchi) starring Michiyo Ookusu (billed as "Michiyo Yasuda"), Ken Ogata, Mayumi Ogawa, Yusuke Takita, and Yuzo Hayakawa. This was a movie that was very ahead of its time. It was made right after the Tokyo Olympics, and it tells the story of a girl who connects with a male track coach, and he trains her, and she starts running championship times, so fast, in fact, that people start suspecting she might be a man in disguise, and testing proves that she has a chromosome disorder showing signs of both sexes. She then begins a quest to become a "true woman"! The movie is almost completely forgotten, and rarely shown, but its plot is more timely than ever, and the director was an experimental Japanese director who lived in Italy for a time and worked with Fellini and Visconti. Note that we can't say for certain that this movie was ever released in the U.S., as we have only seen Italian posters from it, and the U.S. title we give above was taken from the IMDb, which seems sketchy about where it was used. If anyone knows more about this movie, please e-mail us and we will post it here. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was folded down the middle and had many creases and scuffs along that fold, and many pinholes around the edges. There were a few creases and scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
