Macao, the 1952 Josef von Sternberg China romantic gambling crime film noir adventure thriller ("On the spot... In the toughest spot on Earth"; "A man from nowhere ...a woman with nowhere to go... Trying to forget their pasts in exotic, exciting Macao, port of sin and shady dealings!"; about an American convicted of a crime who ends up in Macao, where he meets a beautiful woman who picks his pocket, but he romances her anyway, and tries to restore his name by catching a crime boss) starring Robert Mitchum, Jane Russell, William Bendix, Thomas Gomez, Gloria Grahame, Brad Dexter, and Philip Ahn

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have not auctioned an example of this poster in the last 10 years! Also note that we have been told that the artist behind this poster is likely Mario Zamparelli, who created many posters for RKO in the 1950s. However, while the poster resembles his style, we cannot be certain. If anyone has definitive proof of who the artist is, please e-mail us.

Condition: very good. The vertical foldline of the poster is slightly uneven, and there is some tiny paper loss at the upper crossfold with a few small creases extending from the bottom (slightly visible in Russell's chin) and years ago a collector put a piece of clear tape on back of that area. There is a small tear at upper right in the blank border and it is next to a small area of slight discoloration due to some paint on the back of that area (but those are not very noticeable or distracting as they are restricted to that blank area). It is otherwise in very nice condition and it will display well on its new owner's wall!
