An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Dressmaker From Paris, the 1925 Paul Bern France silent romantic melodrama (based on the Howard Hawks story) starring Leatrice Joy, Ernest Torrence, Allan Forrest, Mildred Harris, Lawrence Gray, and "The Fourteen International Beauty Models". Note that the models were a group of beautiful young women, who appeared as dress models within the movie, and they included Adalyn Mayer (who was dubbed "The Cinderella Girl of 1925"), Sally Rand (in her third movie role, she later became very famous for her risque fan dance and bubble dance in the 1930s), Olive Borden, Majel Coleman, Jocelyn Lee, Thais Valdemar, Clara Morris, Cecille Evans, Yela D'Avril, Etta Lee, Sally Long, Eugenia Gilbert, Christina Montt, and Dorothy Seastrom. Also, note that this movie was directed by Paul Bern, who, in one of Hollywood's most bizarre episodes ever (which is saying a lot!), married the much young Jean Harlow in 1932 and then shot himself after their honeymoon, apologizing for "a frightful wrong" in a suicide note! It has been rumored that he was actually murdered, and the suicide was a coverup by MGM "fixers"! Finally, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a lobby card, a herald, a glass slide, and a few stills (but no posters) from this movie (and NO other movie paper of any kind) until we received this one-sheet! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had paper loss in the top left, affecting all of the word "PAUL" and a large area of the blue background beneath it. It had a tear going through the right of the "B" of "BERN" and into the blue background below it, with two circular areas of paper loss in the blue background near that area, slightly extending into the white area. It also had a tear extending into the "t" of "Production", causing paper loss. Other than these defects in the top of the poster, the rest of the poster was generally in pretty nice condition prior to linenbacking. A linenbacker did a nice job restoring the above defects, and the posterdisplays well pretty well, but bear the above in mind before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
