A Group Of 5 1975 Re-Release Photographic Transparencies (measure 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" [6 x 6 cm]) (Learn More) Boris Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago, the classic 1965 David Lean (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) English romantic Soviet Russia epic ("A Love Caught in the Fire of Revolution"; "Turbulent were the times and fiery was the love story of Zhivago, his wife... And the passionate tender Lara."; "From the most acclaimed novel of our time!"; "From the most acclaimed novel of our time come these brilliant character portrayals"; "The entertainment event of the year!"; "Based on the novel by Boris Pasternak"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Geraldine Chaplin ("as Tonya... Zhivago's gentle and adoring wife who endures his love for Lara, and pledges her love to him for all eternity."), Julie Christie ("as Lara... Zhivago's great love; She learns of life from Komarovsky, and, through Zhivago's love, becomes a woman of compassion."), Tom Courtenay (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; "as Pasha... The young, idealist student, who marries Lara, and later becomes the fanatic and embittered General Strelnikov."), Alec Guinness ("as Yevgraf... Zhivago's somber and mysterious half-brother; dedicated to the Party but never ceasing to care for Zhivago."), Siobhan McKenna ("as Anna... Tonya's mother, who brought young Zhivago into here family after the death of his mother, and raised him as a son."), Ralph Richardson ("as Alexander... Tonya's father, a cultivated, well-to-do professor, who loves the adopted Zhivago as his own son."), Omar Sharif (in the title role "as Zhivago... a man of peace drawn into the turmoil of war; a man of integrity and depth, torn by a love for two women."), Rod Steiger ("as Komarovsky... the shrewd opportunist lawyer who survives all regimes. Tiring of his mistress, he turns to her daughter, Lara."), Rita Tushingham ("as The Girl... born of the revolution and found years later: a shy girl, never to know if she is the child of Zhivago and Lara."), Klaus Kinski, and Ingrid Pitt. Note that David Lean had shot Lawrence of Arabia in "Super Panavision 70", which was a 70mm process, and of course, that movie was a great success. He wanted to shoot this movie the exact same way, but MGM refused, and it was shot in "regular" 35mm Panavision. There are some English posters that were printed with "Super Panavision" on them, but the "Super" is blacked over on them (and the first release U.S. posters have solely "Panavision" on them). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: One transparency comes with a studio-created snipe within the sleeve that explains about the transparency being from a 1975 TV showing of this movie (see our image). Three of the transparencies have a sticker on the plastic sleeve that has letters and numbers. We took a picture of each transparency in the sleeve so that bidders can see those stickers (if it matters to them). We also made a scan of each transparency without the sleeve, because that is higher quality (so there are two images for each of those three transparencies). Note that these are "studio-issued" transparencies. What are they? They were produced by the studio but are not the camera original. They are very high quality and were created in quantity by the studios and sent to media outlets or other places that hand sent out or used for approved publication purposes. The transparencies are each in a plastic sleeve (but we removed them and scanned them, so that bidders could see just how high quality they are). They will be sent to the winner of the auction in the plastic sleeves. This is a very special auction of 366 extremely rare negatives and transparencies of various sizes, and also lots of sets of 35mm slides. EVERY single item in this auction is either "studio issued" (meaning it was created by the studio and sent to theaters and movie outlets), OR it is a "camera original" (meaning it was the actual negative that was in the camera when the photographer took the picture). Every auction clearly identifies which they are, and there are no items being auctioned that are not either "studio issue" or "camera originals". We have divided them by type and size. Also note that this auction is for one or more transparencies, and every one of the auctions of transparencies we are currently running have been scanned expertly. This auction contains the scan(s) of the transparencies in this auction, and, except in the case of very few larger sets of transparencies, we scanned each one individually (see above for what we did on this specific auction), and we have added an "eMoviePoster.com" watermark over it. The winner of this auction and ONLY the winner of this auction will, upon request, be sent the UNWATERMARKED scan(s) of the transparencies in this auction, which will both save them the time and expense of scanning them themselves, and also allow them to make positive prints of the items they purchased, if they desire. However, if it indicates above that we did not scan all the transparencies in this auction (which is only true of a very few transparencies), then of course we can only send you the photos we took of the ones we did not scan. Condition: very good. The color of one transparency has "shifted" from how it originally was, but otherwise, it is in nice condition. The image can be "color corrected" to look as it originally was.
