A 1954 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures 13 1/2" x 27 1/2" [34 x 70 cm]) (Learn More) Cavalleria Rusticana (released in the U.S. in 1963 as "Fatal Desire"), the 1953 Carmine Gallone Italian romantic love triangle crime murder thriller ("There is a special kind of payment for 'borrowing' another man's wife."; based on the play by Giovanni Verga; about a soldier who deserts from the Army and returns home and finds his girlfriend has married another man, and he starts romancing another woman, but has an affair with his married sweetheart, which results in a battle to the death with her husband) starring Kerima, May Britt, Ettore Manni, Virginia Balistrieri, Grazia Spadaro, Umberto Spadaro, and Anthony Quinn NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Averardo Ciriello/Angelo Cesselon Important Added Info: Note that Anthony Quinn first made movies in the U.S. in 1936, but because of his "ethnic look", was typecast in roles as Native Americans, Latins, villains, etc. In 1952, he won a Best Supporting Oscar for his part as a Mexican in Viva Zapata, but he longed for better leading roles, and he moved to Italy where he lived for a decade. In 1954, he starred in La Strada, which made him an international star. After that movie's release, the distributor of this movie, in which Quinn had played a minor role the year before, re-released the movie giving Anthony Quinn top billing, and showing solely an image of him, when he wasn't even one of the four principal leads! This surely is one of the most deceptive advertising campaigns ever! Also note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this Italian movie! Finally, note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There is a distributor snipe at upper left and a censor stamp at upper right. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
