An Irish Art Print (measures 15" x 20" [38 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Mass in Penal Days, the circa 1950s Irish art print published by the Catholic Picture Company of Ireland, featuring James Conway art of a priest leading a crowd in prayer. Note that Conway was born in Dun Laoghaire Co. Dublin (which was known as Kingstown) in 1891 and he died in 1968. He was a student of the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art from 1927 to 1931, and later he was a fireman with Dublin Fire Brigade attached to Dorset Street. He had four children, two boys and two girls (James, Michael, Mary and Margaret). His works can be seen at the Ulster Museum in Belfast, The Hugh Lane Gallery in Dublin and Aras An Uachtarain in Dublin. The Dublin Fire Brigade training centre and museum also have a number of his paintings on loan.
