When Strangers Marry (released in France as "Betrayed"), the 1944 William Castle New York City romantic crime film noir ("Original story by George V. Moscov"; the old plot of a naive girl who marries a stranger, goes off with him, and discovers he is "not what he seems to be", and may even be a murderer!; even though many movies have that plot, this movie has been called "the finest B-movie ever made" by film historian Don Miller, even more remarkable because it was filmed in just ten days, and much of the credit must go to director William Castle, in one of his earliest movies!) starring Dean Jagger, Robert Mitchum (billed as "Bob Mitchum"), Kim Hunter (in her third movie and her first starring role!), Neil Hamilton, and Dick Elliott
