Artist: Jock Hinchliffe
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this 18x42 English trade ad, which has completely different art by Jock Hinchliffe! It came from The Cinema (an English trade publication catering to the British film industry from 1912 until 1975). Prior to linenbacking, the back of the trade ad featured portraits of Frank Capra & Ronald Colman (by Jock Hinchliffe) plus photos of supporting cast, scriptwriter Robert Riskin and author James Hilton. We believe that this may be the only artwork from this film to show Frank Capra!

UPDATED 12/22/2021: Note that a knowledgeable collector has provided more information about this trade ad and we have updated the Important Added Info section.

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. As noted above, the ad had a different ad for Lost Horizon printed on the back, but fortunately, you can't tell that at all, except when you look at it through an extremely bright light, which, of course, would never happen when this is displayed. The trade ad had some tiny tears and tiny paper loss in the top and bottom of the vertical fold and some wear on that fold, perhaps because this was where it was bound into a trade magazine (see above). Overall, the trade ad was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The trade ad was nicely backed, and displays well!
