Did you know... that eMoviePoster.com will no longer auction lesser condition low value rolled one-sheets in bulk lots?

As you know, for many years we have auctioned literally ANYTHING our consignors sent us, no matter how low the value. This includes things like beat up old magazines, old posters that are literally falling apart, etc. Often these are items that our consignors likely considered throwing in the trash, but decided to send to us, "just in case".

We will still auction items like that, but we certainly do ask you to use your judgment and not bother sending us that old stack of People Magazines (or anything like that), because no one will bid on them and it would be a giant waste of time for us, and you will lose your shipping money.

But NOW we do have one type of item that we no longer want, and that is lesser condition low value rolled one-sheets. We are referring to any one-sheets from the 1980s on that are from movies few if any people care about, and ones that were used in a theater, so they have tack holes, tape, or other defects.

Why? Because we have been auctioning tons of posters like these in bulk lots for at least a year now, and they almost always sell for between a dollar and five dollars per lot. Often, the buyer then cancels, because they discover it costs $20 or more to send a tube of say, 25 one-sheets.

We put in a massive amount of work preparing these (because we photograph every single one-sheet in every lot) and also most of these need to be flattened for several months, because they are tightly curled. So between the time spent flattening them, the space they take up, the work of photographing them, etc, we are wasting tons of precious time (and storage space) that could be used FAR better!

And we know the biggest problem here is the cost of shipping these. The cost of sending a tube with 25 or 50 rolled one-sheets has jumped drastically the past decade. It is not that terrible when the 25 or 50 posters cost hundreds of dollars, but when the entire roll costs a few dollars, and the shipping is many times that, most collectors just refuse to bid, so these often sell for a dollar or two (less than we pay for the tube that holds them!), and it makes no sense for us to continue doing this.

So what is our new policy? All of you who have access to rolled one-sheets from the 1980s on need to read this carefully. If you send us any of those one-sheets, then we will pull out the ones that are worth auctioning individually, and the rest we can either throw in the trash offer to send back to you at your expense. But we will no longer put them in bulk lots.

What about the many that we were previously consigned that are already here? Those we will continue to auction in bulk lots, but of course it would be nice if any of the owners of those would tell us if it is OK with them for us to just throw those out as well.

PLEASE KNOW THAT WE ARE SOLELY TALKING ABOUT THE REALLY LOW VALUE ONES! Ones that have any chance of auctioning for $10 or more each will continue to be auctioned individually. And we are NOT talking about folded one-sheets or any other type of posters (or any other type of collectible).

Thanks for being understanding of our new policy. We waste massive amounts of time on these posters, and they sell for so little that it is clear that virtually nobody collects them. It is ironic, because the market for the "better" titles from the same time period is stronger than ever! We keep setting record prices on the "better" titles of the 1980s on.
