Original Advertising Images Wanted

The Hershenson Archive seeks to collect original advertising images from every movie ever made. It collects in the following areas:

Pressbooks The archive has over 25,000 different, covering all years and studios. It purchases large quantities of pressbooks and will take ones it already has to get ones it needs.  It is not important if the pressbooks have ads cut out, as long as that is reflected in the price.  Note that the archive already has pressbooks from most mainstream films from 1960 on.  We are only interested in pre-1960 titles, or obscure titles from after 1960.

Studio Yearbooks, Studio Magazines, and Studio Datebooks  The archive has over 500 different, and seeks any it doesn't have.  These are the annual hardcover (or sometimes oversized softcover) volumes prepared by each studio for most years from the middle 1910s through the 1970s (at least).

Magazines aimed at Theater Owners The archive has over 5000 different, including at least half of all published since 1930. Titles such as Box Office, Motion Picture Herald, Wid's Daily, Showman's Trade Review, etc.  Please note that we have at least half of all magazines made (and most after 1960, but we will buy ones we already have to get ones we don't have).

Broadway Playbills and Other Theatrical Publications The archive has the "Impossible Dream" of getting a playbill from every stage production ever!

Please help with this massive project.
You can turn unwanted material into cash, and know you have helped to preserve material that is collected nowhere else in the world. If you would prefer to trade, the archive will trade any of the publications listed on this website. Contact Bruce.
