Why do we use the Film: thing for people?

When you type in a search and select a name from the list (such as SEAN CONNERY), our system adds "Film: " automatically to the search. This results in you searching for that name as a film title. This will only give you results when we list items specifically as that name (such as a personality poster or autographed item). If you prefer to see all items that include that person in the film description, you would type in the person's name and press enter (without selecting their name from the list), and then you'll see everything with that person.

The reason we have it setup this way is to make our search more powerful. For example, when someone wants to find items specifically from the film WINGS, it uses film: WINGS to get only results from that film. Otherwise, you would also get every other film title that involves Wings (such as Wings, Wings of Desire, Only Angels Have Wings, I Wanted Wings, etc).

But of course, we also sometimes list people. This is so that we can provide the biographies that we write such as this one for our example of Sean Connery:
Sean Connery is a Scottish actor from the 1950s to the present. Though he is best known as James Bond, he has had a long and illustrious film career! He retired after "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" in 2003 (except for a couple of voice roles in small films). Some of his movie roles include: Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Man Who Would Be King, The Untouchables, Darby O'Gill and the Little People, The Hill, The Longest Day, Marnie, Shalako, The Anderson Tapes, and Robin and Marian

We also do that in cases where we auction personality posters, autographed items, or similar items where the item should be listed under the person's name instead of a film title. For example, we sold a signed photo of Sean Connery as James Bond in 2010, and it is listed as being from "Sean Connery".

What does it all mean!?

If you solely wanted to find those items such as the signed photo by Sean Connery, you would want to select his name from the drop-down list resulting in a search for "Film: Sean Connery".

If you wanted to search for every item involving Sean Connery, you would type Sean Connery and press enter (being sure NOT to select his name from the drop-down list).
