An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/4" x 9 1/2" [18 x 24 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Bette Davis was a legendary actress from the 1930s to the 1980s. She was Warner Bros. leading female star throughout the late 1930s, and she continued as a major star throughout the 1940s, and she had one of her greatest triumphs, All About Eve (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), in 1950. She refused to retire, and took out a famous ad in Variety seeking work (citing her two Oscars!), and she starred in What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte in the 1960s. Some of her other movies include: Dangerous (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Jezebel (winner of the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Now, Voyager (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Of Human Bondage, Star (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Mr. Skeffington (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Little Foxes (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Letter (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film), Dark Victory (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film) and too many others to list! AND Howard Hughes was the director/producer/businessman/aviator (he was nicknamed "The World's Greatest Womanizer") known for his casinos, his strange behavior, and for his airplane Hercules (nicknamed "The Spruce Goose"). He produced several movies including the classics Scarface, Hell's Angels, His Kind of Woman, and The Outlaw. Entire books can and have been written about his life beyond the movies that he made, but he was a world champion aviator, setting both the speed record for an airplane in 1937, and in 1938 setting the fastest around-the-world flight record! Important Added Info: Note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7 1/4" x 9 1/2" [18 x 24 cm]. Note that not only does our current auction of 999 stills represent the absolute finest selection we have ever had in terms of quality of image and film, but it also represents the finest CONDITION group of stills we have ever had! Half of the stills are graded as being in "very good to fine" condition (which is our highest grade for vintage stills), but we were very strict on this, because otherwise, perhaps two thirds or three quarters of the stills would have received this grade! We downgraded stills to "very good" for pretty minor defects, and many of these might have received our "very good to fine" grade in the past. And the half of the stills that ARE in very good to fine condition would likely be graded "mint" by any other auction! This is the finest group of stills I have ever seen, and I can only hope to equal it someday! Condition: good. The still was used in a newspaper or magazine and there is some grey, black, and white paint around the figures of the stars (see our image). The bottom and right borders were neatly trimmed off and there are some crop lines around the edges of the image. Learn More about condition grades
