An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Danish Movie Poster (measures 23 1/4" x 35" [59 x 89 cm]) (Learn More) Dornenweg einer Furstin, the 1928 Nikolai Larin & Boris Nevolin German/Russian silent historical melodrama (a biography of Rasputin, the "Mad Monk" who gained control over the royal family of Russia, and no doubt helped bring about the Russian Revolution that ended their reign) starring Vladimir Gajdarov, Suzanne Delmas, Gregori Chmara (as Rasputin), Hans Albers, and Fritz Alberti. Note that the world was fascinated by the story of Rasputin, and one year after his death in 1916, there were two different U.S. movies telling his story! In 1926, there was a German movie, and in 1928, there were three different movies, one from the U.S., one German/U.S. co-production, and this one which was a German/Russian co-production (and it probably did not play in the U.S., because there was a similar U.S. movie released by William Fox at the same time). Through the years, Rasputin has continued to be a very popular subject for movies, and there have been some 42 movies telling his wild story! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. There are many horizontal creases between 1" and 2" apart (caused by the poster being roughly handled while it was rolled). There was a 4" semi-circular tear with tiny paper loss in the right of the top border, entirely in the green background to the right of the title. There was a 4" C-shaped tear with an oval area of paper loss at the end of it, extending into the "n" and "d" of "onde" in the title. There was a small rectangle of paper loss in the top of the "D" of "Den" in the title, with a censor stamp above it and stains at the top of the "n" of "Den". Someone put clear tape on the back of all the tears in the title described above and also across the back of several of the horizontal foldlines, with some tiny clear tape repairs in the borders. The poster has many minor defects, but it is certainly true that any talented restorer could remove the clear tape from the back of the poster, and properly back it, and afterwards it will look great, and it will likely only require paint restoration in the areas of paper loss at the top of the poster described above.
