As a spectacular Saturday Evening Post serial is brought to the screen!"; "From the Novel by David Goodis"; about a man who was wrongfully convicted of killing his wife, and he escapes from San Quentin and then has plastic surgery to disguise his appearance, and he hitchhikes a ride with beautiful Lauren Bacall, who offers to help him find out who actually killed his wife) starring Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, Bruce Bennett, Agnes Moorehead, Tom D'Andrea, Clifton Young, and Douglas Kennedy. Note that this was the third movie in which Humphrey Bogart co-starred with Lauren Bacall. They first met during the filming of "To Have and Have Not" in 1944, and then were married in 1945. They re-teamed for "The Big Sleep" in 1946, and then made this movie the following year. They teamed again in "Key Largo" in 1948, but they did not make another movie together after that, likely having a lot to do with their having two children. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this first release insert, and only one in the last 10 years (that example sold for $2,187)! Also note that the poster was reused for a re-release, and someone put faint grease pencil over the NSS number and hand wrote in a re-release NSS number below that in the bottom border (but this IS the original 1947 release insert that was reused 9 years later). Also note that this poster was folded across the middle at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster was folded across the middle only. It has a re-release NSS number written by hand in the bottom border (see above). It has some small tears in the upper right border and in the top border that were repaired with tape from the back. It has a fine vertical scuff mark in the left of Bacall's hair, running down into her shoulder. Other than the above, the poster is in nice condition. It certainly can be displayed exactly as it is on the new owner's wall, or one might choose to have slight restoration performed (either with or without backing the poster).
