An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 19 1/2" [36 x 50 cm]) (Learn More) The Young Rajah, the 1922 Philip E. Rosen (billed as "Philip Rosen") silent India royalty romantic melodrama ("From the play 'Amos Judd' by Aletha Lude and the novel by John A. Mitchell"; a great story of the son of an Indian Rajah who is brought to the United States because it is feared that he will be assassinated, and he is given an American name and grows up not knowing his ancestry, and he goes to Harvard, where he is a star athlete, and he is about to be married to an American girl, but he has a vision that there is about to be an attempt on his life, and it happens, but he is rescued and told the truth about his heritage, and he goes to India, leaving his American girlfriend behind, but he is not heartbroken, because he has a vision of a future Hindu wedding with his American girlfriend as his bride) starring Rudolph Valentino (billed here under his given name "Rodolph"), Wanda Hawley, Charles Ogle, Fanny Midgley, and George Periolat. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been heavily trimmed and it now measures 14" x 19 1/2" [36 x 50 cm]. The entire title area is missing, but the great close up image of Valentino in a turban and his credit (as "Rodolph" Valentino) is present. Obviously, this incomplete poster could be framed and enjoyed exactly as it is, or a restorer could be hired to recreate the missing areas (there is an image of the completed poster on the Internet). Of course, one would much prefer to have an untrimmed version of this poster, but it is incredibly rare (we don't even know if the image on the Internet is of a surviving poster). Posters of any kind from this movie are very rare. We auctioned a one-sheet from this movie 25 years ago, and on that poster, Valentino is in street clothes, whereas on this poster, he is wearing his turban, and it is a much more striking image! Condition: fair. The top and bottom of the poster were trimmed to just above Valentino's credit and just below his shoulders (see our image). There are some smudges and stains scattered around the edges, and a few within the poster. But (as described above), this poster can certainly be framed and enjoyed exactly as it is!
