Date Sold 4/27/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 26 Original Vintage Theatrical French Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 8 1/2" x 10 3/4" [22 x 27 cm]) (Learn More) Alien, the classic 1979 Ridley Scott English/U.S. science fiction (sci-fi) space monster horror action thriller ("In space no one can hear you scream."; "a word of warning..."; "Story by Dan O'Bannon & Ronald Shusett") starring Tom Skerritt (as Dallas), Sigourney Weaver (as Ripley), Veronica Cartwright (as Lambert), Harry Dean Stanton (as Brett), John Hurt (as Kane), Ian Holm (as Ash), Yaphet Kotto ("as Parker"), and Bolaji Badejo (in the title role as the Alien). Note that fantasy artist H.R. Giger did the wonderful art that was used to create the alien and the alien planet, but his art was not used on any of the regular posters, only on special prints created after the movie became a hit! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that these French lobby cards measure 8 1/2" x 10 3/4" [22 x 27 cm], but have not been trimmed. Also note that this auction also includes the printed envelope this item originally came with!
UPDATED 04/27/2017: Note that this is a most unusual set, because there are two images that show the alien, and it has been said that no advertising for the movie showed the alien (in order to keep it a surprise). However, these come together with a printed bag, and were found together with a number of French lobby card sets from the same period, and all of those also had printed bags! It is also true that the printing quality of the cards is not sharp. But it does not make sense to us that someone would create a fake 26 card set and a fake printed bag, and besides, they are clearly not newly created! We suppose it is possible that the set was created after the movie first played, when it proved to be a big hit, but there is nothing on it to indicate that it is not from the very first release. Please do not bid on this set unless you can accept the unknown aspects of exactly when it was created and how it was used. We have added an image of the printed envelope to the images. Condition: very good to fine. Learn More about condition grades
