An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Oathbound, the 1922 Bernard J. Durning silent seafaring crime mystery melodrama ("Story by Edward J. Le Saint"; about a ship owner who has silk smugglers on his ships, and his brother tells him he is a revenue officer and offers to go on the ships to catch the smugglers, but the brother is actually the head of the gang) starring Dustin Farnum, Ethel Grey Terry, Fred Thomson, Maurice 'Lefty' Flynn, and Norman Selby. Note that Fred Thomson was a major silent cowboy star (along with Tom Mix), but he is forgotten today, because he tragically died of tetanus just when sound movies started. Surely there should be a film biography of his life (perhaps Johnny Depp could play the lead role!). Note that the IMDb says that this movie's official title is "Oath-Bound", but the only advertising we have seen from it shows it as "Oathbound". Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: fair. Only one pane of glass is present, and there is no black tape around the edges. It has staining around the edges and some small scratches in the image (see our image). This can be cleaned and repaired by a professional or talented amateur, but please do not bid on this slide unless you can accept its defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
