An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More)

Casablanca, the classic 1942 Michael Curtiz (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) anti-Nazi World War II (WWII) romantic love triangle melodrama ("From a play by Murray Burnett and June Alison"; winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; it is interesting to note that the movie was made while World War II was being fought, and at a point when it seemed very real that Germany might take over the entire world, and in that context, the strong emotions expressed throughout the movie are all the more poignant, given what was going on in the world at that time) starring Humphrey Bogart (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as "Rick", Richard Blaine), Ingrid Bergman (as Ilsa Lund), Paul Henreid (as Victor Laszlo), Claude Rains (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Captain Renault), Conrad Veidt (as Major Strasser), Sydney Greenstreet (as Signor Ferrari), Peter Lorre (as Ugarte), S.Z. Sakall (as Carl), Dooley Wilson (as Sam), Madeleine LeBeau (as Yvonne), Leonid Kinskey (as Sascha), John Qualen (as Berger), Marcel Dalio (as Emil, the croupier at the roulette wheel), and Corinna Mura (as the cabaret singer who plays the guitar and sings "La Marseillaise")

Important Added Info: Note that this window card was never folded. Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded.

Condition: good to very good. The window card was discovered many years ago. It had some tiny water staining scattered throughout. It was given to the premiere restorer at the time, Joe Hernandez, and he removed some of the water staining through chemical means, and then he touched up the white background areas, and also the blue and red letters, but he left alone the rest of the poster, and he did not back the poster, performing the restoration directly on the poster without backing it. I agree with this decision, because, while you can see signs of the faint scattered staining in the image, it is not very distracting, especially from a reasonable viewing distance. But please study our super-sized image of this poster to see if you would like to display it on your wall before bidding on this poster. It is a wonderful poster that is rarely ever offered for auction!
