An Original Vintage Movie Script (measures 8 1/2" x 11" [22 x 28 cm], 129 pages) (Learn More) Play It As It Lays, the 1972 Frank Perry Hollywood California idle rich thriller ("A new Frank Perry film"; "From the novel by Joan Didion") starring Tuesday Weld, Anthony Perkins, Tammy Grimes, Adam Roarke, Ruth Ford, Eddie Firestone, Diana Ewing, and Paul Lambert NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script is the revised draft from November 24, 1971 and the screenplay was written by Joan Didion & John Gregory Dunne. Also note that there are blue and pink revision pages from 12/9/71 and 12/15/71 (we previously auctioned another example of this script that did not have those revision pages, and that script sold for $311!). Note that this script was consigned to us directly from director/screenwriter Charles Shyer. Mr. Shyer was married to actress Diana Ewing from 1969 to 1974, and she appeared in this movie while they were married, and she gave this script, which was one of hers, to Mr. Shyer, and he has consigned it to us. Included with the script is a "call sheet" from the production, and also handwritten directions to the location, surely written by Ms. Ewing. Mr. Shyer is the director of many extremely popular movies from the 1970s to the present, many of which are romantic comedies, including House Calls, Private Benjamin, Baby Boom, remakes of Father of the Bride and The Parent Trap, and many others. Over the years, he collected scripts, which he received primarily in two different ways. He was friends with screenwriters, directors, and producers during those years, and they would sometimes send him scripts of their movies to get his opinion of them, and many of those are offered here. This is a rare opportunity to purchase original scripts that come directly from the personal collection of a prominent director/screenwriter! Condition: very good to fine.
