An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (measures 30" x 40") (Learn More) The Rose, the 1979 Mark Rydell fictional rock 'n' roll biographical melodrama ("She gave... And gave... And gave. Until she had nothing left to give."; "A love story with music"; "Story by Bill Kerby"; "Screenplay by Bill Kerby and Bo Goldman"; "A love story with music"; note that the movie is clearly loosely based on the life of legendary female rock & roll music artist Janis Joplin, although that was not officially acknowledged!) starring Bette Midler (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; "Her first motion picture"; in the title role as Mary Rose Foster), Alan Bates, Frederic Forrest (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Harry Dean Stanton, Barry Primus, David Keith, and Sandra McCabe. Note that the original story this movie was based on was written by Marvin Worth and Michael Cimino, who worked on this AFTER making "The Deer Hunter". Bill Kerby then wrote a draft based on Cimino's story, and then Cimino and Bo Goldman together wrote a new draft, but finally, the script was rewritten by Bo Goldman alone, and they ended up giving screen credit as shown in our quote credits above, and Cimino's name was left off entirely! Artist: Fred Otnes Condition: good. many creases and scuffs throughout the poster This poster is in "lesser" condition (what many dealers would describe as "good" or "good to very good", or in the case of posters with more serious defects, which should be easily seen on our large images, "fair")! It has clear defects, which are likely to be very noticeable in our "large" or "super-sized" images that you can click on from our small image at right. In addition, we have also noted in words what these defects are in our "Description of Defects" section above, as some of these defects may not be all that visible in the images (reading what we wrote and looking at the super-sized image should tell you right away whether it is in "good to very good", "good", or "fair" condition). We know that some collectors could accept this poster's defects, and display it as is, and we also know that many collectors would only be happy with this poster if they had it restored, so please do not bid on it unless you can accept it as it is, or are willing to pay to have it properly restored. Of course, you should realize that if you do not bid on this poster because of its condition defects, it may be quite some time before you see this poster offered again!
