Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Lobby Card Movie Poster (measures 28" x 40") (Learn More) The Year of Living Dangerously, the classic 1982 (released in the U.S. in 1983) Peter Weir Australian Indonesia political romantic melodrama ("A love caught in the fire of revolution."; "Mel Gibson...Living dangerously"; "From the novel by C.J. Koch"; about the 1950s revolution in Indonesia) starring Mel Gibson, Sigourney Weaver, Bill Kerr, Michael Murphy, Linda Hunt (winner of the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Noel Ferrier, and Bembol Roco. Note that Linda Hunt won Best Supporting "Actress", even though she played a man in the movie! This was the only case where anyone playing a member of the opposite sex won a Oscar, and it was EXTREMELY well deserved in this case, as Hunt gave a marvelous performance! Note that this poster is one of a group of Australian lobby card posters (also called "photosheets" or "photo one-sheets"). This is a very rare type of poster solely made in Australia, and they are almost never offered for sale (over the past three years we have sold many thousands of Australian posters, and we have NEVER sold a single one of these before)! These posters were designed to be used by theater owners in one of two ways. They could be displayed as is, or cut up to create six "lobby cards", and a small banner (note that these are NOT perforated as are lobby card sheets from some other countries; you need to actually cut them to turn them into lobby cards). NOTE THAT ALL THESE POSTERS ARE COMPLETELY UNCUT! When they were cut, theater owners would put the banner on the box office glass, or on the theater door. It may be that these posters are so difficult to find because so many of them WERE cut up, and few uncut ones survive. Also note that included in the group we are selling are some rare country-of-origin posters from some classic Australian movies! light extra horizontal fold 2" above the regular middle horizontal foldline; minor creases and scuffs throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines) Learn More about condition grades
