(Learn More) The Rack, the 1956 Arnold Laven Korean War military courtroom lawyer prisoner of war (POW) legal torture-and-how-much-can-a-man-take-before-he-cracks melodrama ("Not since 'The Caine Mutiny' such a drama"; "All the drama, the suspense, the power of 'The Caine Mutiny'!"; "Based on the teleplay by Rod Serling") starring Paul Newman (billed as "Paul Newman a wonderful new star!"), Wendell Corey, Walter Pidgeon, Edmond O'Brien, Anne Francis, Lee Marvin (in a key role), Cloris Leachman, Robert Burton, Robert Simon, Trevor Bardette, Adam Williams, James Best, Fay Roope, and Barry Atwater. Note that this movie reunited Anne Francis and Walter Pidgeon from the movie they had made the same year, Forbidden Planet, where they played father and daughter! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that when studios would prepare pressbooks they would often include a sample of the herald. Most often, the herald is no longer still with the pressbook. Sometimes, the herald by itself will sell for almost as much as the rest of the entire pressbook! This pressbook contains the original herald that was included with it, and it is pictured next to the pressbook below. Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Also note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners received pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: very good to fine, NO CUTS. This large pressbook (which measures 12 1/4" x 17") is complete and uncut. It was never folded (which is quite unusual with large pressbooks, because theater owners would almost always fold them so that they could be stored with lobby cards or one-sheets).
