An Unfolded Travel Poster (measures 23 1/2" x 33 3/4" [60 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) American President Lines: Hong Kong, the 1957 cargo liner passenger-cargo-ship cruise ship travel poster ("Serving 50 ports on 4 major trade routes") designed to promote tourism to Hong Kong aboard American President Lines cruise ships, and featuring art of a pagoda with a cruise ship in the background. Note that cargo liners were used to transport passengers as well as many different types of general freight along fixed, scheduled shipping routes. In the 1960s American President Lines began construction of container ships which ultimately ended the era of cargo liner cruising (however, to this day some container vessels still offer berths to paying passengers!) If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare cargo liner travel poster. We have never auctioned one in all our years of auctioning (and we are auctioning three different American President Lines travel posters in this set of auctions)! Condition: very good.
