Some of her movies include: Million Dollar Legs, Tin Pan Alley, Moon Over Miami, and Down Argentine Way. She is perhaps best remembered for her famous sexy legs, and one of her pin-up images, which was one of the absolute most popular ones displayed by soldiers during World War II (at one time, her legs were insured for $1,000,000 by Lloyds of London!). She was married to actor Jackie Coogan, and then later to bandleader Harry James (with whom she had two children). She passed away in 1973 at the age of 56 from lung cancer. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a vintage photographic enlargement from 1941! Theaters would sometimes create such large photos (this one measures 35 3/4" X 58 1/2") to promote their top movies or stars (in this case, this one would have been displayed outside a theater while it was showing "I Wake Up Screaming"). Sometimes they are found mounted to heavy boards, but this one is not, which is a big plus. This was created by a photography lab from a studio negative and it is a photographic enlargement, but it has quality printing, and it is extremely rare! Note that this poster must be sent in a tube that is over 32" long (which is why it is in this set of auctions). You can tell how long the tube will need to be by adding 2 inches to the shorter dimension of the length or width (so 40x60s need to be sent in a 42 inch long tube, etc). Most of these posters (with the notable exception of paper banners) CAN be combined in the same tube together, with a few exceptions. Bear in mind that a very long tube (42 inches or longer) will cost a lot more to send than a 30" tube, so bear that in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: fair to good. The photographic enlargement was stapled to a wall, and there are many staple holes around the edges and also scattered through the image. There are border defects and many creases scattered throughout. The bottom right corner was detached and re-attached with clear tape from the back. In spite of these many defects, this could be displayed as it is, or certainly, restoration could be performed, but please bear in mind its defects and look at our super-sized image before placing a bid on it.
