8 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Before the White Man Came, the 1920 John E. Maple silent Native American Indian romantic love triangle melodrama docudrama ("An all-action Indian picture with a cast of over 1000 Indians."; "Not a white man in the cast!"; about two Indian tribes, the Crow and Cheyenne, and they get along until the son of one chief wants to marry the daughter of another, but she wants to marry another, and it results in a war between the two tribes) starring Mae Old Coyote, Ben Spotted Horse, Scratches His Face, White Man Runs 'Em, and Robert Yellow Tail. Note that the producers were trying for great authenticity in making this movie, and they did far better than most Hollywood movies of this time, because they truly cast only Crow and Northern Cheyenne Native American Indians to play the roles in the movie (with no professional actors at all), but they should not have named the movie what they did, because that implied it was set many centuries earlier, and yet the Indians had much more modern innovations. But it clearly was a much superior portrayal of Native American life over that of what the rest of Hollywood was producing at the same time!
Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this complete set of 8 lobby cards! Also note that this auction also includes the printed envelope these cards originally came in!

Condition: very good. Each of the cards has paper loss in the top right blank corner, but they are otherwise in nice condition. The cards come with the original brown bag that the set was originally sent to theaters in.
