A 1978 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Spanish Movie Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 3/4" [70 x 101 cm]) (Learn More) Per Qualche Dollaro in Piu (released in the U.S. in 1967 as "For a Few Dollars More"), the classic 1965 Sergio Leone German/Italian/Spanish cowboy spaghetti western sequel ("The man with no name is back! The man in black is waiting..."; "It's the second motion picture of its kind! It won't be the last!"; "The man with no name is back! The man in black is waiting... A walking arsenal - he uncoils, strikes and kills!") starring Clint Eastwood (as Monco), Lee Van Cleef (as Col. Mortimer), Gian Maria Volonte, Mara Krupp (billed as "Mara Krup"), Luigi Pistilli, Klaus Kinski (as Juan Wild, the Hunchback), Joseph Egger (billed as "Josef Egger"), Panos Papadopulos, Benito Steffanelli, Roberto Camardiel, Aldo Sambrell, Luis Rodriguez, and Mario Brega. Note that this movie was released in December of 1965 (no doubt to qualify for awards), but most of the Italian posters from the first release are dated 1966. This same situation exists with La Dolce Vita and many other classic movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Macario "Mac" Gomez Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" poster for this partially Spanish movie! We know that this poster is not the first release, because the first release has writing on the bottom that this does not have. It had small writing in the right of the bottom that almost surely contained the date of the re-release, but someone blacked over that area (no doubt so they could deceptively sell it as original!). The first release poster has "1966" in the bottom writing area and we have seen a re-release with "1978" in the bottom writing area, and this is from neither of those two releases, so it is from yet a third release (and we think it is likely from a different 1970s re-release). If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at the top and bottom crossfolds and minor fold wear. It had a small amount of printing in the right of the bottom border that was blacked over (see above). Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
