An Original Undated (probably late 1940s; from the first Japanese release of this movie) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Japanese Movie Poster (measures approximately 14" x 20") (Learn More) Only Angels Have Wings, the classic 1939 Howard Hawks romantic love triangle pilot airplane aviation adventure thriller ("Together for the first time"; "Each day a rendezvous with peril... each night a meeting with romance!"; a wild story of a showgirl arriving in a mythical tiny South American country where a cynical American expatriate runs an airplane mail delivery service which involves treacherous plane flights over the Andes; there are other pilots who risk their lives and other romantic involvements, and the plot is really complicated, but the movie moves quickly, and it has a great cast, and is considered one of Howard Hawks' very best movies) starring Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Thomas Mitchell, Rita Hayworth, Richard Barthelmess, Don 'Red' Barry, Noah Beery Jr., Miisa Sierra, Allyn Joslyn, and Sig Ruman. Note that you almost never see major Hollywood movies with two extremely attractive female leads who are fan favorites, but this one had both Jean Arthur, who had been acting for many years, but was at the height of her popularity, and Rita Hayworth, who would soon become one of America's most favorite sexy actresses! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan, and many American movies were shown in the late 1940s. All of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster, and this only seems to be on these late 1940s posters. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan at this time, these posters have the title written in both Japanese and in English, and they are from the first Japanese release. What IS linenbacking?
