An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Chase Me Charlie, the 1918 Charles Chaplin & Langford Reed comedy short anthology ("A Chaplin Jingle"; "A British version of Charlie Chaplin's funniest films --- taken from the famous Essanay-Chaplin comedies"; a compilation of excerpts from Charlie Chaplin's short films including The Tramp, Shanghaied, In the Park, The Bank, By the Sea, A Night Out, The Champion, The Woman, and His New Job) starring Charles (Charlie) Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Leo White, Ben Turpin, Chester Conklin and Bronco Billy. Note that Essanay/Perfection Pictures released this compilation of Chaplin shorts in 1918 (after he had moved to First National), and that Citation Films gave this silent comedy compilation a full scale re-release in 1959, over 40 years later! Note that this movie was produced by "Perfection Pictures". This was created in 1917 by a merger of three legendary film companies of the earlier 1910s, Essanay, Thomas A. Edison, Inc., and George Kleine. We know that Perfection Pictures produced at least a couple dozen movies between 1917 and 1925, and we suspect that they also re-released some movies from the above three studios that were made prior to 1917. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that in the earliest days of lobby cards (mostly between 1915 and 1918), lobby sets were usually NINE cards. There were eight scene cards, and an additional "title card", that was REALLY a title card, because it normally just had text on it with the title of the movie and the credits, but no image. Some time at the end of the 1910s, studios realized they could print lobby cards on two half-sheet-sized sheets and then trim them into eight lobby cards, which saved a lot of money, and at that time they eliminated the title card and changed one of the scene cards into a modern day title card (with both image and credits), and the eight card lobby card has remained the standard to the present day. The title card offered here is one of those late 1910s true title cards! Condition: good to very good. There are faint vertical creases scattered in the middle of the card (they look much worse in our digital image than they do in person!). There is paper loss in the top right blank corner. There are smudges, tiny stains, and some tears around the edges, with tiny paper loss in the right end of the bottom border. Learn More about condition grades
