Evening Clothes, the 1927 Luther Reed France romantic silent love triangle comedy melodrama ("From the play 'The Man in Dress Clothes' by Andre Picard and Yves Mirande"; about a French farmer whose wife leaves him because he isn't sophisticated, and he gets an extreme makeover, which brings his wife back to him, but he has spent all of his money on the makeover, and all he has left is his fancy set of evening clothes!) starring Adolphe Menjou, Virginia Valli, Noah Beery Sr., Louise Brooks (as Fox Trot), Arnold Kent, and Andre Cheron. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Condition: good to very good. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had never been folded. It had some dark staining across the bottom half of the bottom blank border and faint staining in the bottom right corner (over the Paramount logo triangular area), and scattered faint staining running up the right side of the poster, slightly extending into the image. There was a lesser amount of faint staining scattered in the rest of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The person who restored the poster first completely cleaned it, which removed a considerable amount of the smudges and stains. At that point, the decision was made to not do further restoration, because in order to make the image look "perfect", there would have been the need for lots of paint, which would have given the poster a "heavily restored" look, and the faint remaining scattered tiny stains are definitely not very distracting, and in addition, they help establish that this is a genuine 83 year-old original poster! I really think the poster probably has survived in much better than could have been expected condition, and it truly does not have very much restoration, and it will display great on anyone's wall!
