Date Sold 10/25/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. A 1946 Re-Release Theatrical Autographed Movie Pressbook (pb; measures 11" x 17" [28 x 43 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More) Hal Roach was a legendary producer of mostly comedy shorts from the 1910s to the 1940s (he is credited as the producer on over 1,200 of them!). He was the guiding force behind the Our Gang shorts, the Laurel & Hardy films, and the early Harold Lloyd films, among many, many others. In the early days, his films were released through Pathe. Later, he began distributing through MGM, and he sold his assets to them in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He passed away in 1992 at the age of 100! Important Added Info: Note that this item, which is a 1946 re-release pressbook of "Scatterwood Survives a Murder" (re-titled as "Cat's Claw Murder Mystery"), has been personally autographed (signed) by Hal Roach! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this pressbook (if the back cover is not the poster page, we photographed the interior poster page), and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Note that this item was consigned to us by a man who has been a major movie memorabilia dealer from the 1970s on. During that time, he would regularly purchase collections of movie memorabilia from both dealers and collectors, and in some of those collections he purchased autographed items. Both we and our consignor feel it is extremely likely that the autograph on this item is authentic, but he does not have a certificate of authenticity. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: good to very good, NO CUTS. The pressbook is complete and uncut. It was folded across the middle and has creases and smudges scattered throughout. Learn More about condition grades
