An Original Vintage Theatrical German Movie Campaign Book (measures 11" x 15" [28 x 38 cm]; 75 pages) (Learn More)

Tobis Europa 1936-37, the 1936 German campaign book featuring art and information about upcoming Tobis productions such as Tamara, Das Blaue Licht (Blue Light), Die Geliebte Von Paris and many more. Note that this book is a very unusual campaign book, because for each movie they have a really cool die-cut page that shows a small part or parts of the full-page ad on the next page for the same movie, so you first see a portion of the image, sometimes with questions about the upcoming movie, and then you see the ad for the movie itself! The book has much artwork for the movies that were being made at that time, and some of the art is signed. We have included images of the cover of the book and several of the interior pages (and we did not make a big effort to find the best ones, and we really wish we could have pictured them all!). Note that even though this campaign book was sent to many theater owners, it appears that very few examples have survived (and surely German editions of campaign books are even more rare, both because of German World War II paper drives, and because the ones made during World War II have Nazi content!). I have been a collector of campaign books and related material for many years, and I know for certain that this campaign book is extremely rare!

Condition: good to very good. There are stains on the covers, but they are mostly blank. There is a long irregular tear in the upper left of the cover that extends through the "E" of "EUROPA" (see our image). There are some smudges and stains around the edges of some of the interior pages, but many are in excellent condition (see our image).
