An Original Vintage Unfolded Political Campaign Poster (measures 22 3/4" x 34" [58 x 86 cm]) (Learn More) Gun Control Begins in the White House, the 1968 political poster featuring an image of President Lyndon B. Johnson with a rifle in one hand and newspapers in the other! The original image (before Johnson's head was added) was one of the "backyard photos" which featured Lee Harvey Oswald holding a rifle (possibly the same one used in the assassination of President Kennedy) in one hand, and two Marxist newspapers in the other. While photographic experts consulted by the HSCA (House Select Committee on Assassinations) concluded they were genuine, some continue to contest the authenticity of the photos. This poster has a 1968 copyright in the bottom right that says "by Posters Against Bullets For Ballots"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is one of a remarkable group of around 100 guaranteed authentic mostly war posters (around 75 war posters, plus 25 others, including political ones) mostly dating from before 1900 through 1945, with 15 from after that date! These were originally acquired by an archive decades ago, and they have been in storage ever since, until they were recently consigned to us. Many of these are the sorts of posters that you can find reproductions of on the Internet, but finding guaranteed originals like these is incredibly difficult (years can go by before these are offered for sale or at auction). This is a very rare opportunity to purchase any of these more than 100 posters! Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. There are a few small brown water stains scattered in the poster. The back of the top 5" of the poster has darkened, but it has little effect on the front.
