An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie 7 3/4" x 10" [20 x 25 cm] Key Book Still (Learn More) Knockout Reilly, the 1927 Malcolm St. Clair silent boxing sports romantic love triangle prison melodrama ("From the story 'The Hunch' by Albert Payson Terhune", who was the author of the "Lassie" stories; a steel worker saves a girl in a bar fight by knocking out the man coming on to her, and it turns out the man was a boxer named "Killer"; he becomes a boxer, but is then arrested for a crime he didn't commit, but while in prison, he stays in training, and when he gets out, he fights "Killer"; he is losing, but his girl tells him that "Killer" framed him, which gives him the drive to knock his opponent out in the final round!) starring Richard Dix (in the title role as Dundee 'Knockout' Reilly), Mary Brian, Jack Renault (a real-life Canadian heavyweight boxer, who appears in the movie in fight scenes with Dix!), Harry Gribbon, and Osgood Perkins. Note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the still is glued to a linen-like backing (we think it is highly likely this was a key book still, and that someone trimmed away the extra 1" from the left of the still, no doubt so it could be put in a frame). Note that not only does our current auction of 999 stills represent the absolute finest selection we have ever had in terms of quality of image and film, but it also represents the finest CONDITION group of stills we have ever had! Half of the stills are graded as being in "very good to fine" condition (which is our highest grade for vintage stills), but we were very strict on this, because otherwise, perhaps two thirds or three quarters of the stills would have received this grade! We downgraded stills to "very good" for pretty minor defects, and many of these might have received our "very good to fine" grade in the past. And the half of the stills that ARE in very good to fine condition would likely be graded "mint" by any other auction! This is the finest group of stills I have ever seen, and I can only hope to equal it someday! Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
