Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Half-Sheet (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More)

Belle of the Nineties (some movie paper was prepared with the working title "It Ain't No Sin"), the 1934 Leo McCarey riverboat entertainer romantic comedy ( "Mae West.... in the picture the whole country is talking about"; about a sexy cabaret entertainer who has a tough boxer boyfriend, but who attracts the attention of every man who sees her) starring Mae West, Roger Pryor, Johnny Mack Brown, Katherine DeMille, John Miljan, Libby Taylor, and Duke Ellington's Orchestra. Note that the movie's working title was "It Ain't No Sin", but the censors refused to allow it, and it was changed, even though some posters exist with that title. They tried to change the title to "St. Louis Woman", but the residents of that city protested, and their next title was "Belle of New Orleans", but they received similar protests, and they settled on the non-controversial "Belle of the Nineties"!

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info:      Note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 20 1/4" x 25 1/4". It comes from a newly discovered collection of 18 early 1930s half-sheets, all of which had the blank borders trimmed (sometimes the trimming went into the image). We have left all the posters exactly as they were found, both so that the eventual buyer could see exactly what condition the poster was in, but also so that they could decide how much restoration to do, if any, and to choose which restorer to use.
There are many rare and desirable titles (some of these may be the only surviving copy!), and it would not surprise us if some of these posters end up (restored and looking mint) in some fancy big city auctions, going for jillions of dollars! But there is every possibility that some lucky eBayers may get to purchase one or more of these for bargain prices as all of them start at $2.99, with no reserve!
However, these posters clearly have real defects, so please don't bid on any of them unless you can live with them as is, or are willing to have them restored (if properly restored, they will look wonderful).

Condition: good. In addition to being trimmed, the poster has the following defects: This poster (the only one of the 18 in this group) was dry-mounted to a board. It had been folded vertically twice (to the left and right of Mae West's image). There is a 2" surface scratch in West's hair and a 3" surface scratch in the extreme left of her hat. There is slight surface paper loss under the "T" of "WEST". The entire board was creased twice in the lower left. There is slight surface paper loss near the left edge of the bottom blank border. Only the blank borders of this poster were trimmed and a thin line of the blank border was left all around, and the small writing in the lower right is still present. None of these defects are particularly distracting from a short distance away!
