An Original Vintage Unfolded World War I Poster (measures 21 1/2" x 28 1/2" [55 x 72 cm]) (Learn More)

U.S. Engineers Foremost, the 1917 U.S. World War I (WWI) Home Front recruitment poster ("Skilled mechanics technical specialist serve with the engineers overseas"; "Apply to recruiting officer") encouraging all able-bodied engineers to enlist in the U.S. Army, and featuring Charles Buckles Falls art of several soldiers. The only example of this poster we have seen has a black piece of wood attached to the top and bottom of the poster (with a series of small tacks on the back of the poster going into the wood), with a string on the back of the top piece of wood that lets you tie it up after it is rolled. We don't know if all examples of this poster were created that way or if this was something done to this poster after it was created. If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
Artist: Charles Buckles Falls

Condition: good to very good. The bottom of the poster was stuck to part of the black wood, and someone tried to remove it, causing surface paper loss in that area (but all that is affected is the solid blue and part of the box for specific recruiter information (see our image). Certainly, the poster could be restored (either with or without removing the sticks), but bear this in mind before bidding on this extremely rare poster.
