An Original Vintage Folded Special Movie Poster (measures 13 1/2" x 41" [34 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Flirt, the 1922 Hobart Henley silent romantic love triangle stock swindle melodrama ("Booth Tarkington's masterpiece on the screen"; about a small town woman who is engaged to a respectable local man, but she falls for a dashing traveling man selling fake oil stock; she helps him in his swindle, which costs her her fiance, who then marries her sister) starring George Nichols, Lydia Knott, Eileen Percy, Helen Jerome Eddy, and Buddy Messinger NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a pressbook and five lobby cards from this movie until we received this poster! Also, note that regular "heavy stock" inserts were first introduced by studios in 1922. But for a while, just prior to that, studios made "double inserts". These were one-sheet sized posters (27" x 41"), on regular thin one-sheet paper. But instead of a single image, they had two vertical images, each with full credits for the movie! They were intended for frugal theater owners, who would buy a single such one-sheet and then they could cut them in half and have two posters for the price of one! Apparently, theater owners really liked these, because not too much later, regular inserts were introduced, and that was the end of the special "double inserts". What is offered here appears to be one half of a double insert poster. It does not show evidence of trimming on either side, so it is also possible that it was made as a single poster. Either way, it is surely incredibly rare, as only a small number of "double insert" one-sheets are known to exist from other titles! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: very good. The poster has a 3" vertical tear in the center of the middle fold, in the blank background area. It has some small tears and tiny paper loss around the edges, with a small tear in the bottom white box. Otherwise, it is in pretty nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
